LONDON, June 23.—The King’s car, in which the King sat . saluting - the crowd that cheered him after his* 1 visit) to the fleet, was struck by aglove filled? with. stones thrown by~ Mrs Helen Willard, who lives at Weymouth, The glove struck the bonnet of the car, and bounced off.
A policeman took Mrs Willard’s name and address. Interviewed by reporters, Mrs Willard said that the glove contained a letter asking the King to grant her an interview and sign a peace petition she was circulating in Weymouth. “1 was not allowed to present the letter to the King,” she said. “How else can l draw attention to my effort to get all women to. support me in my “No' more war” campaign.”
