POLITICAL ACROBATS > Sir.—ln view of the statements now being made by National Party candidates. it might be helpful to point out one or two little statements made by our “political aebrobats” in days gone by. It leads one to think that our old friends will do almost anything to try and gain the favour of the election. As far as Mr Doidgc is concerned this gentleman lias already made more than one attempt ,to get into our New Zealand Parliament and it would appear that New Zealand does not want him, despite the fact that lie is being constantly quoted by one well-known Tory journal. The reminders referred to above, are as follows : 111 1935. Mr T. W. Doidgc stated that “New Zealand is under Soviet rule, and Mr Gordon Coates is head of the Soviet.” In 1928, Mr George Forbes said “God help New Zealand if ever Mr Contes got back to power.” , Of course, dear old Adam is at the bead of the now( ?) party to>-dny but unfortunately he, is generally considered to be a very weak leader. The impopoularity of Messrs Forbes and (Juntos lias not been forgotten so a Substitute had to be found, but the pick was a “wrong ’un”. DEMOCRAT.
