BASHING FASHIONS

COS'l'E ALE’S DAY DONE TRUNKS AND BRASSIERES LONDON. May 22.—British baths superintendents, in conference atBournemouth, agreed that the day of the bathing costume is over. They declared that trunks for men and brassiere tops lor women are most suitable. “I am delighted to see the brassieres and trunks, said Mr Mncgibhon of Southampton. “They’ look very nice and they are also very, sensible, because Huff from the old-style costumes contaminates the water.”

The superintendents agreed that girls should remove lipstick, cosmetics and sun lotions before bathing, because of contamination of water. Councillor Mrs Hammond urged compulsory bathing caps for men.

This, she said, was the only solution, unless shampoos wore provided, because, showers could not remove the liair cream used bv some men. British fashion experts agree that the 193 S mode will be trunks and! brassieres.

Because men were unable to make up their minds, owing to rival preferences for blondes and brunettes, the Littleliampton carnival committee appointed women judges for a bathing ballet contest.

The secretary said that women were more critical and their choice was hound to be more widely approved.
