HEALTH DEMONSTRATION

OPOTIKI© HEALTH AND BEAUTY CLUB - After ’weekly practises extending over several months, members of the local Health and Beauty Club gave a most interesting demonstration to a large and enthusiastic audience in the Parish Hall on Friday night. The squad of fifteen members was under, the direction of Mrs E. A. O’Sullivan and Mrs A. C. Hampton. In her introductory remarks, Mn’s Hampton explained the value of the various exercises to be demonstrated and the principles underlying the movement, which was world-wid That the movement was not a system of gymnastics, hut the gentle development of the body, was emphasised. Mrs Hampton pointed out that the exercises were being undertaken by both young and old. . The squad which demonstrated the various exercises was trimly and appropriately clad, and presented a smart appearance. Their exercises in- , eluded marching, special relaxing, breathing, and several floor exercises, demonstrated on rugs. . At the conclusion of the demonstration, the members served supper, and, at the earnest request of all present, later demonstrated further exercises. The club is already very popular and a considerable asset to the ladies of Opotiki, and this demonstration will assuredly foster further interest.
