TRANSPORT CHARGES
ADVISORY COUNCIL MEETING farmers to be approached A .meeting of the Advisory Council of the Bay of Plenty Carriers’ Associations was held in AVhakutane on Wednesday. \ representatives of the Opotiki, Whakatane, Tauraiiga anti Rotorua Associations being present.
In accordance with the request of: the No. 1 Transport Licensing Authority a .scale -of cartage charges applicable to the whole-district was drawn up. Each association will shortly call a meeting of farmers and other interested parties and if uriaui-: mity in regard to the various charges is not arrived at the No. 1 Transport Licensing. Authority will preside at a meeting when evidence will be called and prices fixed by him. When the price list is finalised it will be incorporated in the conditions of licenses issued under the Transport Licensing Act. It was reported to the meeting that certain persons were carrying on operations without transport licenses, and, as licensed operators were called itpon to pay heavy fees each year, it was decided to take action against all such unlicensed operators. ■ '
