SECOND SESSION A BRIGHT MEETING ' ',’ X • * There AA'as a record- attendance of over 70, including a~ number, of ( visiters, at the second session of the Opotiki Orphans’ Club, held last evening in the Alasonie Half. The president, Bro. A. G. Stevenson, installed vicepresident Bro. A. Debreceny in the chair for the evening.- " The first toast- on tlie list was “The King’’ which was followed by an item by the Club’s Orchestra. A toast to “The Visitors” Avas proposed by Bro. D. AV. Aukl. A special Orphans’ song was sung with great gusto, as was community singing, led by Bro. Stevenson. Bro. Austin' was heard to advantage in songs Avith ukelele accompaniments. A bright spot in -the programme Avas provided by Bro. S. M. Jephson, who told stories. Songs by Bros. F. Wingate and G. O. Griffiths Avere greatly appreciated. Further stories wore told by Bro. Bill Anderson. !A violin solo by Bro. Stan Pearce Avas folohved by songs by Bro. A. Jephson. -.Alter a savoury supoer had been served by the chief steward, Bro. A. Dodgson, and liis able assistants, orchestral items Avere given. The reply to the, toast of, “The Visitors’ ’ Avas made by Bro. E. P. .Woolfield, of AVaimana*. Topical verses composed by Bro. A. AV. A lev* rogoi, Avere sung by Bros: McGregor, 'S. McDougall, T. O’Sullivan and ti. GSimpson. A happy evening concluded Avith the singing of “Aukl Lang Syne” and the National Anthem.
