The • Society for the Prevention of to Animals drew attention to the fact, that the .society’s inspector had tp have seven head of cattle dehorned? at the Alatawliero Cattle Fair owing to ingrowing horns. _ ; “Recently we have had several complaints >of cattle with ingrowing horns,” the letter continued, “and we wopld ask for the co-operation, of "your union to. stop this needless cruelty.”
'The Poverty Bay, Stockbrokers’ Association aJso wrote referring to the frequency of cattle coming to the fairs witli the torture .of ingrowing horns. 0:
“In future,” tMjletter stated, “this association will ''{be compelled to report to the st(/ck inspector any cases of beasts suffering from' ingrowing horns.” *fMembers pointed out that ..the nitihber of cattle' dehorned- had increased remarkably during the s past few years, so^much so that horned cattle for rodeo purposes had been difficult to secure.
It was decided to draw the attention of farmers to the matter and to urge them to see that the suffering of animals was obviated.
