THE 0 POT IK i BRANCH THE. ANNUAL .MEETING The annual general meeting of members of the Upotiki Branch oi the National Party was held last night. .Hr F. J. Short, chairman, presided over a good attendance. In in’s report. covering the operations of the branch since its formation, .VL'r .Short said that the original committee was 11. with power to add. From time to time other good workers had been added bringing the strength of the men’s committee up to 2(j. The Opotiki committee convened a meeting of electorate representatives at 31atawai in June. 1937. and that meeting was the beginning of the Bay of Plenty electorate committee. Opotiki was the first place in the electorate to form a ladies’ committee and this was done in July hist, when a particularly strong committee of 29 was elected. 31 rs v .ri. Wilson, as president of the women’s branch has done a great deal of organising work both here and in other parts of the electorate. The secretary, 31 r E. C. East, presented a report covering electorate activities, and the working of the electorate in conjunction with the adjoining electorates of Rotorua, and Taurnnga for organising purposes, and in conjunction with the South Auckland division.

The balance-sheet presented by the treasurer. Hr (». J. Xeilson, and tlie reports as read, were adopted. iEl&ctjon of Officers. The election of officers resulted as follows: Chairman. 3fr F. J. Short. Secretary. 31r E. C. East. Treasurer. 3fr G. J. Neilson. The retiring committee was reelected. with the addition of one. new member, and with power to add to the number.
