Fox, during her stay in .» Opotiki. it * it 1C- it * * Air Val. Croon, a recent victim of a railway crossing accident at Palmerston North, was well known to the older residents of Opotiki. Lorn m Opotiki, he attended the Opotisi School, and spent his boyhood days here. The late Air Croon was a brother of Airs George Kelly, of Opotiki. He was well known in Shannon where he was engaged in farming for many years, prior to his retirement.
WAIOTAHI Cl FT EVENING Aliss Dorothy Alottrani, whose marriage is shortly to take place, was the giiest of honour at a pleasant gilt- evening held in the Waiotalii Hall on Saturday night. The evening was spent in playing cards and dancing to music supplied by Airs Al. King and Afr S. Pearce, with extras by Aliss B. Du Pontet and Airs W. G. Quarrie (Taupo). Vocal selections which were greatly appreciated were contributed by Airs Davis ATr H. S. Holmes, and Air S. Pearce delighted all present with a violin solo. During the evening. Air Raymond Head, on behalf of those present, asked Aliss Alottrani to accept the many useful and charming gifts. Air T. 6. Alt Her thanked the guests on behalf of Aliss Mott ram. A happy evening was concluded with the singing of Auld Lang Syne after which three cheers were called for the hostesses, Airs R. Du Pontet, Airs J. G. Alurray and Airs C. Wood.

The guest of honour was Aliss Dorothy Alottram. who is to ho married shortly. The. dance music was played by All's Al. King, and Aliss Al. M’ardlaw kindly with extras. Air E. X. Alenges hiost capably acted as Ai.C. 'lihe Monte Carlo waltz was wofcpby 2®<s Patricia Cranswiek and ALLY. Su van. After a dainty home-made supper had been served by the married ladies, Mr E. P. AA'oolfield on behalf of all present, and in a neat little speech, asked Aliss Alottram to accept the many beautiful and useful gifts from all present, and wished her every success in her future- sphere of life. Air V. E. Alii lor suitably responded, thanking Mr AA’oolfield for his good wishes and 1 all for the beautiful gifts, which he and Aliss Alottram greatly appreciated. 1 Dancing was continued until midnight, when the singing of “They are

DANCE AT WAIOTAHI A jolly dance arranged by the committee of the AVaiotahi School, was held in the Waiotalii Hall on Friday night. The Melody Alasters’ Orchestra was in attendance and provided a- splendid programme. Air Wardlaw, or Waimana, obliged with a popular extra. Air Ron. Smith capably carried out the duties of AT.O.
