• : HELD LAST ' ■ ' ' / 'tl NEXT YEAR’S SHOAV DATES The annual conference of delegates of Bay of Plenty A. and P. {Associations was held in the County Chambers, Whakatane, on Wednesday last. /Present: Messrs H. G. Ross, A. Ryburn (Te Puke), H. G. Rand, E. Rud- ' dick (Whakatane), C. G. Norrie, H. FJ. C. Carter, J. H. Evans (Tauranga), G. B. Henry, C. B. Roan (Katikati), R. 1). Looney, AI. Vahstone, S. M. Jephson, T. H. Pearson (Opotiki). Mr R. D. Looney, president of the Opotiki A. and P; Association presided. The minutes of the previous annual meeting were read and confirmed. 1 ‘ V ' The chairman, in liis report stated that the 1938 circuit of shows was very satisfactory in so far as all arrangements were concerned and everything pointed to a year of record 'shows. However the fine weather broke early in February and the first three shows were held in wet weather . and under trying conditions. Whakatane and Opotiki only had fine days. Congratulations wele due to Mr T. W. Wardlaw of AVaiinana, who in spite of the wet weather, exhibited his dairy cattle at each of the. five shows. The chairman regretted he was unable to attend the annual meeting of the Royal Society owing to unforeseen circumstances. Mr J>. S- Ross, delegate bn the Northern District Council had attended some of the meetings of the -Council. The secretary read the balance sheet and both the report and balance sheet were adopted. The circuit points prize winners were announced as follows: Horse Section—Mr C. A. Hewson. Dairy. Section —Air T. W. Wardlaw. Macmillan Cup for most points in pedigree Jerseys—Air T. AV. Wardlaw. Pig Breeders’ Cup—Air \Y. E. Bowen. Tile following show dates lor 1939 were adopted:— Opotiki: Friday, 17th. February. AAiiakatane: Tuesday, 21st. February. Te Puke; Thursday, 23rd. February. Tauranga: Saturday, 25th. February. Katikati: Tuesday, 28th. February. It was resolved to invite delegates' from the AVaihi A. and P. Association to attend the conference next year. It was resolved that the president and secretary of the Katikati A. and P. Society -be the executive' for the ensuing year. The incoming president was appointed delegate to the Royal Society lor the current year, and Ml- D. S. Ross of Te Puke was appointed delegate to the Northern Council. A vote of thanks was passed, to the outgoing president and secretary ; also the AVhakatane County Council for the use of the Council Chambers. _ It was resolved to hold the licxt conference at Te Puke.
