Bridge Damaged.—A bridge, 22 foot in length on the Takaputahi Road between Hermanson’s house and his woolslied lias scoured out at one end, and is not safe for traffic. To repair this bridge will cost about £26. Irvine’s Road.—l have inspected the road leading from Irvine’s house on to his other properties. This road, some two miles in length was widened from a track t.o a dray width.about twentyfive years ago, the balance being a track for some further miles. This road under the name of Appleton Road was originally constructed to give access to Messrs Irvine’s, Joblin’s and Reid’s properties, these two latter places now have access by different routes. The road and track now is only used for stock traffic and is now somewhat out of repair. 1 would recommend the Council to expend £5 to £lO to fill in the worst ruts. 1 consider anything further, if desired, should be subsidised by those concerned.
Otara/Elast Road. —Owing to lack of; information I have not been able to locate ,the road reserve running alongj? the river bank from Mr Lowe’s to.All*' Neill’s. I have inspected the locality, the distance would bevabout 65 chains. To form, culvert, and metal along a suitable line’ would cost about £350, The actual surveyed toad from what I could sec, probably lies along land that would be subject to floods and crossing several lagoons. ffejfcCy Works Carried Out.—Metalling repairs have been done on the following roads: Toone’s, Looney’s, Wainjii, Motuorie, Coast and Peti Peti Roads. ..The planer has worked on-the main highways'and grader on Gabriel’s Gully, Waiotalii, Toone’s, Wainui, Motuorie and McCluskey’s Roads. Materials have been ordered for the Waiotalii Valley Bridge. Accompanied by the chairman and riding members an inspection was made of the river; erosion at the Upper Otara.
