CONVICTS ESCAPE

HID IN BOXES MARKED “TOYS” LISBON, March 30.—Three criminals serving sentences for forgery have escaped from the long-term prison at Lisbon in boxes labelled: “Glass toys. With care. Do not overturn.” The men hid themselves in the boxes, which contained statuettes made at the prison factories, and were taken to Lisbon, where two of the boxes were put on a train for Oporto. The boxes have been found empty.
