OPOTIKI STOCK SALE THE RANGE OF PRICES Messrs Dalgety and C*o. Ltd. report having held their monthly stock sale at the Opotiki saleyards on the 2nd. June, When a good average yarding of cattle came forward, also one pen of wether hoggets and 1 a. line of 70 ewes from Oponae. An average attendance of ,■ buyers keenly sought all classes of fat cattle but file boners showed a slight decline. A feature of the yarding was four bullocks which aroused tile interest of spectators and buyers on account of their size. We quote the following prices which were realised at the sale: Wether hoggets in forward condition but not fat were passed in at 18s and a pen of 70 ewes r.w.r. made 27s 7d. Dairy cows were yarded in small numbers, the top price being £7 for a second calver. Fat cattle; prime heavy weight bullocks, £ll 7s 6d; others, £10; fat cows, £6 13s; others, £5 17s to £6 2s; lighter, £3 to £5 Ids; other good condition cows, £4 to £4 19s; store cows, £3 2s (kl to £4; boners, £1 Ids to £2 17s 6d; small Jersey steers, £2 to £2 7s; bulls to £d. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. Ltd. report as follows : We had a full yarding of fat and forward cattle at our sale held yesterday, boner cows being scarce. There was a small yarding of sheep, which included some good condition wethers which sold well. We report a total clearance. Prices realised were : 2 and 4-th wethers, to 245; 4-th wethers, 24s 3d; heavy fat cows, £d 10s to £0 12s 6d; killable cows, £4 12s to £d <j>s (keen competition). Heavy store cows, £3 10s to £4 4s; others, £2 Ids to £3 8s; boners, 34s to £2; run cows with calves, to £4 ss; 18-month Hereford heifers, £4 2s 6d; heavyweight bulls, to £4; others, £2 10s to £'3; 3-year unbroken half-draught filly, £2l 10s.
