A young hoy, undergoing an examination for a position, came across the question: “Wliat is the distance of the earth from, the sun?” He wrote his answer as follows: “I am unable to state accurately, but I don’t believe the sun is near enough to interfere with a proper performance of my duties if I get this* clerkship.”
