TO THE EDITOR

OVERHANGING HEDGE Dear Sir, —I would like to know how much longer the Opotiki Borough Council is going to allow hedges to overhang footpaths. A glaring instance is the hedge fronting the bowling club’s green. For months during the year this hedge is a positive danger to pedestrians and at the present time it is as had as it could possibly be. Only about- half the footpath can be used now and it is most annoying to have stic-ks poking one in the face and pulling hats off. This particular hedge can be kept in good order with only a few minutes’ work every few weeks and it is more than time something was done to abate the nuisance it causes to pedestrians. It is no good waiting until someone has an eye injured. The council should take immediate action.
