OPOTIKI RUGBY UNION * / WEEKLY MEETING The weekly meeting of the Opotiki Rugby Union was held on Monday night. Present: Messrs G. Wood (chairman), J. Parkinson, T. Black, G. Howard, T. Hickey,- jA.- Short, Delamere and F. Cliapman (secretary). It was resolved that- all players be Jissued' with tickets' with passes on which each player’s name. would be written. No player will be admitted to the ground without this ticket.. The. draw for next Saturday resulted

Reserve; Seniors, Te Huia v. City Juniors, Waioeka v. High School.

Showgrounds: Seniors,. P.W.D. v O.M.P. Juniors, Te Huia v. Torere O.M.P. a bye. s -

It was decided to have the goalposts removed from the reserve to the 3rd. grade playing field. A grant of. £3 10s was made to the Referees’ Association for the purpose of purchasing four sets of referees’ gear; to remain the property of the Rugby Union. On ther motion of Mr T. Hickey it was resolved that as an incentive to the new and young referees, on each occasion when the local representative team is visiting another centre, one referee accompany the team as assistant manager. Seconded by Mr T. Black and carried.

The secretary was instructed to arrange for the marking of playing grounds. On the motion of Mr J. Parkinson, seconded by Mr Delamere, it was decided to fix affiliation fees of third grade clubs at 12s, and 30s insurance fund. Carried.

The secretary was also instructed to make necessary arrangements to have showgrounds brought into order for matches on Saturday next.
