SISTER PKIT-UHARD’S VISIT Sister. Pritchard, formerly district nurse at 31atawai, who has just returned from Sydney, gave the following impressions of the Anzac reunion and services. Of the nurses who went to Sydney, Sister Pritchard with three other sisters Travelled via the “Wanganui”. On the voyages, old time wargames “liousie-housio” etc., with concerts at night, provided the ship hoard entertainment. No distinction was made between the passengers, all enjoying first class privileges and wonderful fellowship prevailed. While in Australia the men and the sisters returned to ship for bed and' breakfast and during the day had the comparative freedom of the city, -VII the New Zealand returned sisters attended the dawn service. It was, said Sister Pritchard, a memorable occasion.. ' y\gainst their dark suits, the faces of the men, marching twelve abreast, gave the impression of a broad' beam of light. The tramp, tramp, of marching feet in the perfect silence and the solemnity of the service, wore intensely impressive. The New Zealand Women’s Association and the V.A.B.’s reunion were some ef the societies which entertained the New Zealand sisters.
Sister. Pritchard visited the Royal Show and saw some of the New Zealand hoys competing 'in the buckjumping contests. Sam Hollis of Opotiki. gave a fine exhibition, in the dog trial section, one of the winning competitors gave an exhibition of yarding ducks. Some ol the New Zealand men attended the Rand wick races hut expressed a preference for New Zealand' courses. Incidentally, Sister Pritchard was in the first fifty nurses to .leave New Zealand for the “front” during the Great 3A ar.
