WEDDING

CRISTALL—OH AMBERS A wedding of local interest was recently solemnised at St. George's ■Church, Whakatane, when Barbara Ward, elder, daughter of Mr and M'rs A. W. Chambers, of Whakatane, and formerly of Opotiki, was united in the holy bonds of matrimony to. Lawrence McLeod, youngest son of Mr and Mrs E. Crist all,, Rudgeway, Bristol, England. Rev. A. E. Addis, of Katikati, officiated. He was assisted by Rev. S. G. Caution, of Whakatane.

The bride, who was given away by her father, ware a charming gown of ivory satin, fashioned on empire lines, with a long train and boat cowl neck-line, finished with bunched rouleaux and orange blossoms and with tiny satin-covered buttons down the back. The embroidered silk net veil fell over the frock and formed a second train. She carried an ivorybound prayer book given her by her grandmother, Mrs Torrens. lu attendance as bridesmaids were Miss Judy Chambers (her sister) and Miss |Allio Clarke,, who were attired in smart frocks of green net in redingote style- over satin, finished with gold c-lasps and belts. They wore lialcs.. of gold leaves with shoulder-length net veils, gold sandals and 1 mittens, and carried posies of goldenshowers. The bridegroom was attended by his brother, Mr Phil Cristall, late of Canada, and Mr Paddy Chambers (brother of the bride) of Opotiki. As the bridal pair left the church they walked through a guard of honour of pupils of the Whakatane School who had ‘ been' taught by the bride.

Mr and Mrs Chambers afterwards held a reception at their home, Airs Chambers wearing a frock of marina blue georgette and lace. The bridal couple left by car for their honeymoon, the bride wearing a smart, navy blue pin stripe costume with navy blue accessories.
