TO THE EDITOR
WHA.KATANE ELECTIONS Dear Sir, —I notice that a storm of protest was raised in the Wliakatane paper over a circular which was printed in Opotiki appearing in Wliakatane. I was rather curious 'to learn what lay behind the protest and upon enquiries being made I was informed that certain Wliakatane candidates for the borough elections, for obvious reasons, preferred to have a circular printed by the “Opotiki News” in preference to having it printed in Whakatane. And now a protest appears in the Wliakatane paper about Wliakatane printing being done in Opotiki. Opotiki lias- had to put up with Wliakatane printing for long enough and if anybody is entitled to protest it should come from Opotiki. The writer goes on to say that Wliakatane will not be ' t-old whether it should support the railway to Opotiki. Naturally they will not because they want it to go through- Wliakatane instead . SOUR GRAPES.
