Mr and Mrs 'J'. Grey, and family of What a tutu, Gisborne. returned to their home last Monday evening after spending the week-end with Air and Airs Geo. Brown, Toatoa. * ft ft -it ft ft JVErs ,A. A. Handily and Aliss Tui Hambiy write of their arrival in Canada and the glorious sunshine which greeted them upon arrival. They will enjoy a short stay in Vancouver before resuming their voyage to Lugland. ft * ft ft ft * ft Air Eric Pent-on who left at the latter part of last year for Australia, advises his parents of his promotion to an executive position in the firm of Alessrs Courtney’s Limited, Sydney, as warehouse manager. * * ft ft ft ft ft Alessrs E. AT. Vanstone, J. O’ReilJy, T. H. Pearson and E. J. Baigent, Returned Soldiers who represented Opotiki in the Contingent- from New Zealand which took part in the Anzac Dav Parade, Sydney, arrived at W ellington on Alonday, per s.s. Alaunganui and -s.s. Alouowai. Alessrs T. J-I. Pearson, J. O’Reilly and B. Al. hailstone returned to Opotiki last nightand Air El. J. Baigent is expected to return to-dav. The men are enthusiastic about the trio and the wonderful hospitality they received from the Australian people.' They enjoyed delightfully warm weather throughout.
TO ATO A FAREWELL AL it AND MRS M. LLOYD A very jolly evening was hold re- • centlv in the Toatoa Hall to bid farewell to Air and -Mrs Al. Lloyd and family, who are leaving the district. The evening took the form of a dance, tile music being supplied by Mr S. McDougall. Mr G. Brown carried out the duties of AI.C. After an enjoyable supper was served by the ladies’ committee. Mr Lon. Walker took the opportunity. on behalf of the residents of Tratoa. to present Mr and Mrs Lloyd with a beaten-brass fire-screen. Mr Lloyd suitably responded. The Monte Carlo was won by Airs Keenlyside and Air J. Kihora. Those present were: Al'r and All's AI. Lloyd and Master* Glynn andi Brian Lloyd, Air " and Mrs Deo. Brown. Air and Airs Adams. Air and Airs Starkey, Air and Mrs Kihora. Air and Mrs Sterling, Airs Keenlysido,. Airs R. Jones and Mrs Hooper. Misses AI. and X. Reid, T. and Ai. Adams. B. Haskell..- AI. Raul and H. Hooper. Messrs R. and R. Yardle.v, J. and D. Starkey. T. and 11. Stott, M; Alnnro, H. Dull'. F. Kihora, S. AieDongall. C. 'l'erris. K. Lapwood and Sterling. The evening was concluded with the singing of ‘‘For 'They are Jolly Good Fellows.”
