TUCERCULOSIS TESTING

2700 CISBORNE COWS SIX PER CENT. INE'KiCTEID During the 12 months just ended, over 2700 dairy cows in the Gisborne district were tested for tuberculosis, and approximately (> per cent, were condemned. The increase in the cows tested over the previous 12 months was about 1000. while a few years before that the number tested was negligible. A simpler method lias been partly responsible for larger numbers having come forward for testing. During the 1930-37 period, 5.91 per cent, of the 1700 cows tested were condemned, while the percentage of condemned cows during the 12 months just closed was slightly higher.
