In correspondence with a friend- in Opotiki, Mi's A. A. Handily and Miss Tui Handily write that they are eu'joying a very happy time at Honolulu, where they are visiting in the course of their voyage to England via Canada and the I'nitcd States. Mr H. G. Simpson has returned to Opotiki after an enjoyable holiday which he spent as a member of a party which cruised the Auckland Harbour and included the popular holiday resort, Cowes Bay. * S 1 * * A. progressive 500 evening, under the auspices of the liebekah Lodge, was held- recently in the Regent learooms. An fiijoyublc o\ oiling ’’spent, Airs J. Williams and -Mrs. E. Burgess being the successful players, ividle -Mrs Dain and -Mr Anderson received consolation prizes. A dainty supper was served by the hostess. Mrs S. E. Webb. A successful card evening arranged by members of the Kutarere Branch of the Labour Party, was recently field at the home of Air and Airs D. C. Forbes, Kutarere. There >va. s a good attendance and a. very happy evening r was spent. Flag 500 was played, the successful players being Mrs Hitchcock, Mrs Forbes, Mr W. AVhite and Mr Parkinson. Consolation prizes were’awarded to All's Logan. Miss Leishman, Mr Forbes and -Ur Clements. A dainty supper was enjoyed after which, Mr Barrell, president of the branch, on -behalf of those present, bade farewell to Mr -McGlusky, a member of the branch, who was * leaving for Ireland. -Mr Barrell presented Mr McGlusky with a fountain pen as a token of the esteem in which - lie is held by his fellow- -members. Mr McGlusky thanked those- present -or the useful gift.
