WAIOTAH] " < The monthly meeting of the Waiotahi Women’s Institute was held m the Waiotalii Hall on Wednesday, April 13, Mrs C. White presiding. “Remits for the Dominion Conference were* discussed. The Golden Thread, “A Trip, from Rotorua to Hick’s Bay,” was read by Miss Jessie Neilson. A report on the recent Federation Meeting was read by the! delegate. A short talk on Robert Louis Stevenson was given by Mrs Du Pontet andi illustrated by recitations by Betty and Rita Wyllie, t)iwyn Clayton and Daphne Reeves, and songs by Mi's Burke and Miss Du Pontet. A competition, “A Tennis Wedding,” was won by ill’s Burke, with Mrs Logan second. (A game of musical parcels was won by Mrs Rau. The competitions for the afternoon were as follows :■ —Saucer Posy, Mrs. R. Smith 1, Mrs L. Y. Looney 2. Prettiest Guest Towel. Mrs I*. Looney 1. Best Bloom, Miss H. Eason (eanna), 1, Mrs Jeffery (cauna) 2. A dainty afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, Mo's dames Smith. Moore, Wells and Anderson, and the singing of the National Anthem concluded the meeting. ~~ ! WOODLANDS The monthly meeting of the Woodlands’ Women’s Institute was held yesterday: with Mrs Noble presiding over a good attendance. The meeting opened with the singing of the National Anthem and the Institute Song followed by the reading of the Creed. A most interesting and comprehensive report on the Council meeting was given by -Mrs Barbour who had attended as delegate. The considering of the remits for the Dominon Federation meeting took up a considerable amount of time. Mrs Noble was appointed delegate to attend the meeting. Arrangements were also made for the Sunshine League show court and the usual arrangements were made for the making of the Anzab wreath. The Roll Call of Sewing Hints brought forth some useful ideas. There were good entries in the competitons. Mrs Hollard being the winner of the book cover eompetiton and -Mrs Pilkington securing first prize for the bowl of Autumn flowers arranged for effect. A brain' fag competition arranged by Mrs Hollard was won by Mrs Pilkington. Afternoon tea served by the hostesses, Mrs Martin and Airs Sargent brought a happy meeting to a close.
