BOY’S NECK BROKEN

CAUGHT IN CONVEYOR -MELBOURNE'. -March 12. Edward Francis Flannery, aged 15, of Hodgklnson. street, Clifton Hill was killed when he was caught- in a conveyor belt at the Mac-Robertson Con fectionery Factory this morning. A safety switch was within easy reach of where Flannery was working, but apparently he was hung off liis feet and could not reach it. Flannery was working alone on the cooling conveyor in the .-nitoldnig department of the factory. It is thought that he overbalanced and . that his hand was caught between a. spindle and the conveyor bar. He screamed for assistance, hut girl employees in the room became hysterical end could not help. Finally, the motor was stopped, and Flannery was released. His neck had been broken. Several of the girls were unable to continue work, and were taken to their homes in taxi cabs. •
