m/vtawai meeting RESULT OF FIRST JfiVJdNT Although showers fell at a the beginning of the week, the Matawai Sheep Dog Trial Clubs mooting opened in good weather conditions on Wednesday. There was a very good attendance on the opening day and splendid entries are being received. The first class was concluded shortly after midday yesterday, and resulted in a win for J. White’s Speed, with a margin of four points over J. Greenstreet’s Jock. Third and fourth places were filled by Opotiki competitors. Alaximum points allotted in this class, the long head aud boiu in ring, are: Head 22, pull 24. ring (3, total 50. Detailed results are : J. White’s. Speed, 22, 18, u; 4opts I J. Greenstreet’s Jock, 27, 17, 3; 41 2 C. Clark’s Nut, 18, 20, 2; 40 , 8 C, J. Gordon’s Pat, 19, 17, 3.}; 39* 4 There were 40 entries in the class. The next event, the short head and yard was commenced yesterday afternoon. Ti e trials are being held on Mr H. Davc-r.port’s property in fine weather. This is the eighth successive meeting ■';* which fine weather has prevailed lor the Aldcaami club s trials, and this is regar A:J a* a record for -mb' in Poverty Bay. The judge is Air E. A.
