Popular Piano. Striking evidence of the return to popularity of the piano is the fact that one firm in Invercargill sold -7 in the first 16 trading days of this month. Badge Presentation. After responding, to 31 r S. -31. Jeplison’s speech of welcome, the president of the Taranaki Club presented 3lr Jeplison with, a badge of the Taranaki Club. 31r Jcphson reciprocated by presenting the badge of the Citizens’ Club. Sports Trophies. The very fine collection of trophies which is on display in 31 r' H. D. Pluck’s window has been competed for at the fortnightly meetings conducted Jiy the Opotiki Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club. Some of these trophies wil also be competed for at the big day meeting which wiil shortly be held. . Returned Soldiers for Australia. In response to an invitation from the Australian Returned Soldiers’ Association, to attend the 1938 Anzae Day Parade in Sydney,, a contingent of .1,000 Returned Soldiers will leave Wellington per s.s. “31.un.owai'’ and s.s. “31aunganui” cm April 19th. Those chosen to represent Opotiki arc Messrs F. J. Baigent. T. H. Pearson. 31. Vanstonc and J. O’ile’Jly. Cisborne-Moiuhora Line. The increased traffic on the Gi.s-borne-Motuhuva line* necessitated the running of two goods trains each way on Thursday, in addition to the ordinary service. This was necessitated by the movement oi Inc stock to saleyards and the ordinary traffic oi fat stock to tlie Works in Gisborne, in addition to the* carriage of ballasting metal for the new railway formation, timber for tunnelling on the GishorneNapier railway, and material for the bridges on the northern State highway connecting Gisborne with Opotiki. There is also the movement from the wharf of fertiliser for the hill country along the line.—P.lS. Herald.
