Ltd. report as follows on the fortnightly pig sale held in the Opotiki saleyards on Monday afternoon: — We had a very large entry in all. classes but weaners/ Blacon pigs were keenly competed lor and show a slight advance on late rates. Mr. Ben Callaghan, of Wailiau Bay, and Mr H. R. Noble,, of Opotiki, jointly topping the. market at £3 19s. Porkers /sold, at schedule ‘ rates.. Store pigs and slips were hard to quit but vendors met the market and we report a total clearance. Prices realised ■were: — . '

Heavy, baconers £3 15s to £3 19s, medium £3 8s to £3 145,, lighter £2 17s to £3 ss. Porkers: prime heavy, £2. 5s to £2 12s; medium,'37s to £2 3s/ light, 25s to 355. Buttermilk pigs, 37s to £2 11s. Large istore pigs, to£2 11s; smaller, 15s to 225. Slips, 7sto 12s. Choppers: heavyweights, ;-3 10s to £3 16s; smaller, £1 to 375. Messrs Dalgety and Go. Ltd. report that a. very heavy, yarding oUall classes of pigs came forward. There was a large imd representative attendance of buyers which included the usual bench of export- and bacon factory buyers. Competition was keen throughout especially on all bacon pigs which were, yarded in lesser numbers and showing, less finish than the previous sale with values slightly firmer. Porkers were yarded in considerably larger numbers, whilst the finish was not . quite up to. the usual standard. Competition was keen with values remaining practically the same. Store pigs were yarded in smaller numbers and rather keener enquiry at a slight advance at late rates.

The principal sales were on account ef S.'M. Jeplison, 34 prime baconers realising £3 17s.
