MV. and Mrs. H. Ingham, of Dcvonport, Auckland, are spending a holiday in Opotiki as the guests of Mr. and -Mrs. C. Shove, Paerata Ridge. Air. Ingham is Postmaster at Devonport and his visit to Opotiki is part of his annual leave. * * *• * * * * Aliss Gladys Carruthers has returned tp Opotiki after an extensive holiday spent in Tauranga and Auckland. ■» * * * X X S'r Air. G. Shalfcon has returned to Opotiki after spenctlng a few days- uf Auckland. Park, of Gisborne, accompanied by Aliss E. Ccirney and Air. S. Boyack. of Opotiki, have returned to Opotiki after an extensive tour of the North Island. .Mr. and Airs. A variety of kitchen utensils in green were displayed. Air. Hawkins extended the best wishes of all present for the future happiness of Aliss Moody and her future husband Air AY. Jephscn. -An amusing incident was the presentation to Aliss Aioody of an attractive pair of overalls which, Air. Hawkins said, he hoped shic would find useful..

The garden tea was, a particularly happy idea as Alatjorio is one of the keenest flower foyers i-f the district and at her happiest and best in a garden. The afternoon was spent strolling leisurely around the grounds and enjoying the brilliant displays of salvias. marigolds, cannas and roses, ’lea

was served from small tables on the pleasantly shady lawns overlooking the river. After tea, Airs. Gordon presented pretty sprays of flowers to her guest of honour and to Mrs. Thompson and, in a happy speech, spoke of the life-long friendship that had existed between herself and the Thompson family. She expressed her regret that Alarjorie was leaving the town and asked her to' accept the gift fish knives and forks with the love and good wishes of all present. Miss Thompson thanked Airs. Gordon for her charming party and all her friends for their good wishes and delightful gift. The hostess wore an attractive frock oi floral-sprigged electric suede crepe and smart nigger brown liat. The guest of the party chose autumn tints with large brown hat to tone.
