'J’he first of a series of card evenings organised by the members of the Rebekali Lodge, was held at the Regent Tea-rooms on Aloiulay evening. At. the special request of many players,- progressive oCO was piayed, but it was decided that, to; comply with the wishes of the players, the evenings would lie alternated with progressive and flag SCO. There was a good attendance and a very jolly evening was spent. The lady’s prize was won by Airs J. O Sullivan junr., while Air C. Pipe .vas the successful gentleman player. Air G. HOSPITAL SUNSHINE LEAGUE GARDEN PARTY Before commencing- their year’s work, the members of the Opotiki Hospital Sunshine League and their friends gathered at the residence eft the president, Airs C. Gordon, recently. No business was dealt with, the afternoon being just a social gathering' enjoyed in the beautiful grounds. A competition caused much enthusiasm and was won by Airs H. G. Reeves. A delicious afternoon tea was served and the remainder of the - afternoon was spent in .social chatter in the pleasant surroundings. ; ■ , •
