BOWLING
A bowling tournament was held on the Opotiki Citizens’ Bowling Club’s green yesterday'. The weather was fine, with a strong southern wind blowing a good deal of the time. Bowlers .were present from the Te Puke, AVhakataue, Taneatua ami the two local clubs. Results are as follows : First Round. ; 1 Black. Orchard, Curralifl, Loane (s) defeated Bullard, Buxton, Littlejohn, Howat (s). ' C. Black, Burton, Creagh, Stevens (s) defeated Stevenson, Hawkins, Dawson, Short (s). Clark, de Lautour, Bridger, Kidd (s); tied with Maddren,. Roebuck, Frew. Jephson (s). Hedlev, Hathaway, Mansell, Scott (s) defeated Keggie, Montgomery, J. Tabb. Palmer (s). Hunf, Middleman, Foster, Aloody (s) lost-to Shaw, Craig, C. Tabb, Borrie (s), Griffiths, Henderson, Pearce, Foy (s) lost to Holland, AVilliams, Alexaiidcr, Peebles (s). ' Marsdcn, Fox, Metric, AVilson (s) lost to Miller, Payne, Crawford', Jamieson (s). Second Round. AVilson boat Jamieson. Foy heat Peebles. Moody beat. Borrie. Scott beat Palmer. Palmer beat Loane. r Kidd beat Howat. Peebles beat Foy*. Tabb beat AVilson. Dawson beat Moody. * Section-Winners. Scott's team won “A” section outright. Kidd’s and JephsCn’s teams tied for “B” section, and in the play-off, comprising three heads, Jephson’s team won. The Final. / Jephson’s and Scott’s teams - met- in the final match, the number of heads agreed upon being five. A tie with 4 points each resulted, and an extra head was played. This, with the tournament, was won by Jeplison’s team. As the skip of the winning team was tli,e president of the Citizens’ Club, the trophies were presented by Air. C. Tabb, amidst applause. In reply, Mr. Jephson complimented the runners-up on their good performance. An enjoyable day was concluded by cheers. Opotiki Club Championship. The final of the Opotiki Bowling Club’s singles champinoship was played last week, 31. O. Kidd defeating J. Man sell after a fairly close contest, Kidd winning by two points.
