NETHERTON NOTES.
[From Our Own Correspondent]
On Saturday, 13th inst, at a meeting convened for the purpose, a hockey club was formed in this district, and a committee formed to carry but the work of the club. |A strong cliib has been formed, and it is expected that quite a success will be realised. On the 20th, an informal practice was held in Mr John Morrison's paddock. It was well attended, and an enthusiastic practice resulted. Last Saturday was too wet for practice, but there is no room to doubt that at an early date practices will be frequent, and the players acquire ability. On Friday, 19th inst, a dance and euchre tournament were held in aid of the hall funds. A very fair number attended, and a good evening's amusement resulted. In the euchre tournament, a bridle, donated by Messrs Laidlaw Leeds and Co., was won as first prize by Mr E. Adolph. Mrs Innis won the ladies' first prize, a splendid bag presented by Mrs Tetley, of Paeroa. Second prizes of select confectionery were won by Mrs Frogley and Mr W. Morrison.
