HAURAKI SETTLERS.

AND THE FERRY QUESTION

At a meeting of the newly formed Hauraki Plains Settlers Association the important subject of securing direct communication by road and ferry was discussed, also the visit of the Govern-

ment engineer to inspect and report on the various sites suggested for a ferry. It was decided to appoint Mr.J. A. Shand, of Thames, as the association's representative to act on behalf of the settlers in corinection with the matter

and to state that the settlers were unani-

mously and strongly in favour of a site

i at or near Kopu so: that "a connection

could be secured near Thames. — * Thames Star.
