FIRE AT A RINK.

INCENDIARISM SUSPECTED

[By Electric Telegraph.] *

Wellington, May 20.

Fire broke out in a skating rink in Vivian Street shortly after midnight, but it was suppressed by the brigade before extensive damage had been done. The building is owned by Mr T. C. Macarthy,- and leased by Fuller and Sons, Ltd. The fire originated below the floor of a room in which

skates are stored, and there is every reason to believe it was the work of an incendiary, being the second attempt in six weeks. A big hole was burned in the floor under the front rooms, and some skates were damaged, but the flames did not reach the skating floor. Members of the fire brigade were attending, their annual ball when they received the call. The building and contents are insured in various offices for ,£1250.
