The right to the bookstall on the railway station at Paeroa has been acquired by Messrs J. and W. Harp, and they have erected a stall underneath the station verandah near the Waihi and Auckland trains' departure end. The stall is well stocked with magazines and books, and the latest newspapers will also be on sale. The travelling public will doubtless appreciate the convenience of the new bookstall, for it will fill a want that has been much felt.
Considering the wet weather, the progress being made with the erection of the new school building at Paeroa is iairly satisfactory, the brick work being nearly completed. Mr J. DaviSj the contractor, is hurrying the work along as quickly as possible, but there is still a large amount of work to be carried out by the carpenters and plumbers, and the building can hardly be ready ior occupation for another six weeks.
The first Cinderella dance of the season, held in St Paul's Parish Hall on Wednesday evening, was a great success. There was a good attendance, the floor was in first-class order, and the music supplied by Christian's orchestra was all that could be desired. Extras were played by Miss Hart, Miss Robson, and Mr Meredith. The duties of M.C. were capably carried out by Mr J. Brayshaw, and the secretarial work was well managed by Miss M. Hart and Miss A. Emett. A. dainty supper provided.by the ladies met with due appreciation from those present.
