SALE OF WORK.

A SUCCESSFUL BAZAAR.

The sale of work and bazaar in connection with S. Paul's Church was held

yesterday afternoon and evening in the Druids' Hall, Paeroa, and was in every way a success. There was a large attendance, and business at the various stalls was very brisk, so that a substan r tial sum of money will be obtained for the purpose for which the function was held. Arrangements ot a satisfactory nature were made by the members of the Ladies' Guild, under whose direction the bazaar was held, and the ladies are to be complimented on the success of their efforts. Headed by their president (Mrs J. M. Coote) they carried out their manifold duties enthusiastically, and received much assistance from the vicar (Rev. J. P. Cowie) and the church officers. In addition to the sale ot articles at the numerous stalls there

were several competitions that created considerable amusement, the winners of the more important of the competitions being as follows :—Nail driving (ladies) Mrs Martin ; nail driving (gentlemen) Mr S. Silcock ; hat trimming (gentlemen only) Mr A. V. Browne ; sawing (ladies

only) Mrs Martin : guessing weight of cake, Mrs C. Banks ; guessing name of doll, Miss Walmsley. Those in charge of the various competitions were Mrs Adnams, Messrs Woods, Croft, and Neels. The stalls were managed by the following ladies : — Plain work stall (under the auspices of the Ladies' Guild)

Mrs Phillips and Mrs Lovvry; girls' stall, Mrs Croft and Misses Hart and Emett; fancy stall, Mrs Wood and Miss Silcock; refreshment stall, Miss G. Phillips, Miss B. Walmsley, and Miss E. Woods ; lolly stall, Misses Lowry ; fish pond, Miss F. Lowry and Miss R. Bromwich.
