NATIONAL INSURANCE.

DANGEROUS TRADES

EMPLOYERS TO PAY

[By Electric Telegraph.]

London, May 10.

A remarkable provision of the National Insurance Bill is that if friendly

societies allege excessive illness of

members owing to conditions ot em-

ployment in certain trades, shops or factories, they shall be entitled to demand an inquiry, and if it be proved that the sickness over a period of three years is 10 per cent above the average expectation of illness the employers must recoup the societies the extra expense. The Invalidity Bill, which is now called the National Insurance Bill, makes it clear tl it anybody may voluntarily contribute, provided his income is derived from a definite occupation.
