The Norwegian Parliament now includes a lady member, Miss Ragstad, a school mistress, and her male colleagues, it is said, paid her marked attention on her first appearance in the House. Miss Ragstad has the reputation oi being extremely eloquent, and is highly cultured.
The resignation of the Governor-Gen-eral of the Commonwealth is causing some speculation as to the causes even in England. Reynolds' Newspaper says:" It is probable that the truth will never be known as to the real reason of Lord Dudley's retirement from the Australian Governor-Generalship. He has long been heartily sick and tired of the position, and in private communications to.his mends in the Home Country has expressed strong criticisms of the Australian authorities in their restrictive and protective attitude, especially in the curtailment of desirable immigration and iailure to find opportunities lor expanding and colonising the vast tracts of land in the north-west territories. An additional reason for his retirement is the very unsatisfactory state of Lady Dudley's health, and also his strong personal desire to return, Home and lake an active part in public affairs."
Further devolepments in connection with the secret case, as the action Rose and others v. Thomas Kennedy Macdonald has become known, have been delayed on account of the sittings of the Court of Appeal. Endeavours have been made to have the matter brought on, but as two (and probably three) Judges will be required, no fixture could be made. It is understood that the case will be dealt with at the end of this week, says the Dominion. NEURALGIA. If the affected parts are bathed freely with Chamberlain's Pain Balm those stabbing burning darting pains will soon disappear. Rub the Balni well in several times during the day, keeping the patient warm and out of the cold wind. Dozens of people suffering from neuralgia have been cured by the use of Chamberlain's Pain Balm. J. and W. Harp, agents, Paeroa.
