TELEPHONIC COMMUNICA-

TION

The following communication' has been received by Mr J. Kenrick, secretary of the Thames Chamber of Com-

merce, from Mr D. Robertson, secretary General Post Office, Wellington :—" I have the honour, by direction, to refer

to the request contained in your letter of the 13th December last, for telephonic communication between Thames and the Hauraki Plains, and to inform you, in reply, that the Acting Minister of Telegraphs has approved of the construction of a telephone line from Kerepeehi to Waitakaruru, via Orchard and Pipiroa. It is also proposed to rebuild the present telephone line irom Turua to Kerepeehi and take it by a more suitable route to Pipiroa. This line when completed will link up practically the whole of the Hauraki Plains with the existing circuit."
