PREFERENCE FOR THE FACTORY.
SHORTAGE OF DOMESTICS

Sydney, May 6.
The Government inquiry into the domestic servant problem produced overwhelming evidence that the supply of girls is far short ot the demand.
Various reasons were ascribed, the chief being the preference for factory life. The importation of a large number of carefully selected domestics,': and the training for domestics in public schools is recommended.
