FIRST OF THE SEASON
The first Catholic social of the season was held in the Criterion Theatre last night. Notwithstanding the boisterous
weather, there was a fair attendance, and those present spent an enjoyable time. The duties of M.C. were in the capable hands ot Mr Eugene Shaw, while Miss Shaw looked after the euchre
tournament in a satisfactory manner. Dance music was provided by McCarthy's orchestra, extras being played by Miss and Miss Lyes. An enjoyable supper was supplied by the members of the ladies' » committee, headed by the energetic secretary, Mrs G. Dean. After supper the prizes won at the euchre tournament were piesented by Mr H. Poland, M.P., who also returned thanks to those who had assisted in the
arrangements lor the social. The euchre
prizes were won by the following:— Gentlemen : Mr J. Walls i, Mr P. Treanor 2, Mr C. Olson 3 ; ladies : Mrs Treanor 1, Mrs Grant 2, Mrs Dean 3.
