PAEROA HIGH SCHOOL.

EJECTION OF COMMITTEE.

The annual meeting of Paeroa householders for the purpose of electing a School Committee for the ensuing year was held in the schoolhouse oh Monday night. Notwithstanding the threatening weather, about 80 or 90 householders were present, and Mr G. Dean was called to the chair.

The committee's annual report and the statement of receipts and expenditure were read and adopted. ■

For the nine seats on the committee

there were, seventeen nominations, Messrs Edwards, Foster, Le Manquais, and Furlong being appointed scrutineers. The ballot resulted as follows : —J. Black 55, W. Niccol 48, C. M. Brunskill 46, J. Donovan 44, W. McWatters 42, P. Treanor 42, T. Dean 37, W. J. Ellis 37, G. Buchanan 31, W. C. Dixon 30, T. P. Vuglar 30, G. W. Woods 30, G. Evitt 27, W. J. Adnams 25, E. C. Morgan 16, J. Walls 15, R. Whitten 9. Messrs Black, Niccol, Brunskill, Donovan, McWatters, Treanor, Dean, Ellis and Buchanan were therefore declared duly elected.

On the motion of Mr Niccol,'the fol-

lowing resolution was passed :—" That this meeting of householders considers that, in the best interests of education, a dominion scheme for the promotion of teachers is urgently required ; and that the chairman ot this meeting be % requested to forward a copy of this resolution to the Minister for Education."

A vote of thanks was accorded to the scrutineers, and the meeting closed with a vote of thanks to the chairman.

At a subsequent meeting of the committee Mr W. Niccol was re-elected chairman, and Mr C. M. Brunskill was re-elected honorary secretary and treasurer. It was decided that meetings of the committee be held on the second Tuesday in each month in Mr W. McWatters' office, that place being kindly placed at the disposal of the committee by Mr McWatters.
