First payments for the championship meeting are due to-morrow. Staying at Home Maori Home will not be taken to Auckland for the Cup meeting, but will do his holiday racing at the Ashburton and Canterbury Park meetings. Gelding by Gamble ' A recent addition to V. Alborn’s team is the novice pacer Lucky Dan, a five-year-old gelding by Gamble from Rapido. In three starts last Reason he did not show any form at all. Southern Trotter Logan Max, who recently went into R. Young’s stable at Addington, will have his first race under his new trainer in the Improvers’ Handicap at the New Brighton meeting on Saturday. % Speedy Mare Golden Game is speedy but at times she has added to her handicap by moving out of the barrier slowly. The Gold Bar mare would collect part of the stake for the Wainoni Handicap at the New Brighton meeting if she made a smart beginning. Early Win Indicated
Darrington Hall looks a possibility for the Empire Handicap at Addington on Saturday. He drew attention to his future prospects by running third to Johnnie Lawn and Communique in the November Handicap, of two miles, on the second day of the New Zealand Cup meeting. Navigate’s Programme Navigat* will probably be given a race at the Canterbury Park meeting before being taken; to Auckland for the championships in February. He will be accompanied by the U. Scott gelding Tam o’ Shanter. In Good Order Sure Lady and Acclamation proved that they are in excellent order for their holiday engagements by trotting a mile and a-half at Addington on Tuesday morning in 3min 20sec. Engaged at Tapanui lona Hall, who vfill be raced at the Tapanui meeting on Saturday, is a four-year-old mare by Dillon Hall from Erin’s Advance, and is trained by I. Herbert. She had two unplaced starts last season and this season was started In the Knapdale Trot at the Gore Racing Club’s meeting at the Labour Day week-end, but finished well back. Improved Trotter Lucky Bill has claims to being described as one of the most improved trotters in his class, and he should go on to win in better company. After winning the Tahuna Handicap at the Forbury Park meeting in October, he was taken to Oamaru on Labour Day and won the Waitaki Handicap in 3min 41 4-ssec from a 3min 52sec mark. He will be one ofi the favourites for the! Brighton Handicap at Addington on Saturday, and he may find Java the hardest horse to beat.
