The age-old problem of the misunderstood stepmother is given a fresh twist on the Regent Theatre screen in tomorrows new picture, ” The Secret Heart," which enlists the stellar talents of Claudette Colbert, Walter Pidgeon and June Allyson in a ‘story- of absorbing interest. As Lee Addams, successful New York realtor. Miss Colbert has turned down the love of Chris Matthews (Pidgeon) in order to devote her life to her tvto stepchildren, whose father has killed himself because of dishonourable business dealings. The daughter, Penny Allyson), a sensitive, introverted musician, kept free of the true motive of her lather’s suicide, blames her stepmother for his death and withdraws from the affection of her family in a neurotic attachment for her father’s memory. Penny is finally convinced of her grave error and is again set on the path to a normal life.
