DUMPING OF RUBBISH

The boTough inspector, Mr G. W. Atkinson, has reported to the Oamaru Borough Council that the dumping of rubbish in the Tamar street dump has almost ceased. In spite of all efforts to stop it, however, the trouble at Orwell street was as bad as ever. Warnings had been given to a number of householders against dumping rubbish on the roadside. Some of the Oamaru building contractors, the inspector stated were the worst offenders, leaving heaps of shingle which washed down 'the gutters and blocked the drams.
