DOMINION CONFERENCE PHYSICAL WELFARE OFFICERS P.A. WELLINGTON, Dec. 9. Thirty-two officers of the physical welfare branch of the Department of Internal Affairs are attending a conference at the Frederic Wallis House, Lower Hutt. The men have come from all parts of New Zealand. A similar conference of women officers will be held in February. An extensive programme is being conducted under the supervision of Mr R. Bender, head of the administrative staff, and Mr L. Cross, technical officer. The syllabus includes physical training in such sports as softball, athletics, hurdling, volleyball, discus and javelin throwing, basketball, and archery. Future schemes of area development and problems are included on the programme. Discussions are being held and instructional films shown. The conference will conclude on Friday
