DISCREPANCY REVEALED
TICKETS ISSUED AND PETROL CONSUMED AUSTRALIAN INVESTIGATIONS Rec. 9.30 p.m. CANBERRA, Dec. 9. Commonwealth Security Branch investigators are understood to have revealed a discrepancy of several million gallons between the tickets issued and the petrol consumed in Australia. These findings are contained in an interim report to' the Prime Minister, Mr J. B. Chifley. Mr Cbifley revealed to-day that in addition to the Commonwealth Auditor-general and the Commonwealth Security Service, State police have now been co-opted in a general campaign to prevent unauthorised use of petrol.
