Mrs R. Cameron, of Timaru, is the guest of Miss Stevenson, of St. Leonards. Mrs N. Matson, of Christchurch, is staying with her mother, Mrs M. Pithie, of Port Chalmers. Mr and Mrs Bridgewater, of Queenstown, are the guests of Mrs M. Pithie, of Port Chalmers. Mr and Mrs Ralph Scorgie, of Omakau, are in Dunedin for the Wood —Pryor wedding. The Misses Nelson are the guests of Mrs Clive Wood, of Ings avenue, St. Clair. Mrs L. G. K. Steven, of Christchurch, is in Dunedin for the Wood—Pryor wedding, and is staying at the Law Courts Hotel. Mrs J. D. Nelson, of Winton, Southland, is the guest of her daughter, Mrs L. G. de la Perrelle, of Eglinton road. Dr Rae Brown and Dr Bevan Brown, of Oamaru, and Miss C. Newton, of Christchurch, will be visitors to Dunedin for the Wood—Pryor wedding. Mrs A L. Wood, of Westport, is in Dunech for the Wood —Pryor wedding, and is staying at Wain’s Hotel. Miss Joyce Thomas, of Wellington, who has been the guest of her sister, Mrs T. K. S. Sjdey, has returned to her home in Wellington. ' Dr and Mrs I. M. Rutherford gave a 5 o’clock party on Friday. Mrs E. M Morrison has returned to Dunedin after spending a short holiday with Miss Mary Donaldson, of Roxburgh. Mr and Mrs H. T. Speight invited some of the members of the Borovansky Ballet Company to an after-theatre party at their home on Friday. Mrs R D. McKechnic, of Dalmore, entertained for Miss Pat McDougall at her home yesterday evening. Mr and Mrs Richard Hudson and Mrs Dora Smeaton held a 5 o’clock party on Saturday in honour of Mr and Mrs W. Hudson jun. and of Miss Pat McDougall Mrs H. T. Speight, of Sheen street, Roslyn, entertained at a 5 o’clock party on Friday for Miss Anne Pithie and Mr M. W. Beaven, who are shortly to bemarried. Mrs S. Goodman, formerly Miss May Murdoch, has arrived from England, and is the guest of Mrs Fairbairn, of Valpy street, St. Clair. Mrs Goodman expects to be in Dunedin for some months.
This year, for the first time since 1901, the position of dux of the Otago Girls’ High School is shared, this time by Isobel Dagger and. Annette Stoop. This makes the fifth time in 76 years that such even placing has resulted. The annual break-up party of St. Philomena’s Ex-pupils’ Association was held in the Somerset Lounge on Tuesday evening. A large number of former pupils and friends were present. The programme consisted of a piano duet by Mrs Olsen and Miss A. O’Connell; song, Mrs P. Dolan; recitation, Miss H. Keen; a play-reading produced by Miss E Houston; and three numbers by the ExPupils’ Choir. The annual prizegiving of Columba College was held yesterday when' there was a good attendance of parents and friends. The address was given by the Rev. Dr J. A. Allan and the prizes were presented by Mrs Allan. A vote of thanks was moved by Mr James Hogg, president of the Board of Governors. The guests were then entertained at afternoon tea in the college drawing-room. In view of the emergency precautions, all functions scheduled for the next few days have been cancelled.
