WORK OVER CHRISTMAS

BRITISH IRON AND STEEL INDUSTRY PRODUCTION DRIVE EFFORT Rec. 9 p.m. LONDON, Dec. 8. The iron and steel workers will put in their usual shifts during Chrfstmas to help Britain’s production drive. Many of the 961,700 in the industry will work Christmas and Boxing Days, says the Daily Mirror. The secretary of the T.U.C. said the T.U.C. had given no general direction, and that the question of Christmas work would be settled by local unions in their own districts. He added that it will be a “work if wanted” Christmas.
