BOS MURPHY’S TOUR
TRAINING RESUMED IN LONDON BOUT WITH FRENCH CHAMPION SOUGHT N.Z.P.A. Special Correspondent Rec. 9 p.m. LONDON, Dec. 8. Jack Solomons is hoping to arrange a fight between the New Zealander, Bos Murphy, and Marcel Cerdan, the French and European middle-weight champion, and one of the leading contenders for the world middle-weight title. Since his victory over the Jamaican, Roy Petersen, at Albert Hall on December 1, Murphy has resumed training each day at Solomon’s gymnasium in Great Windmill street. His right hand, which he damaged in the first round of Monday night’s fight, is now improving. Murphy has finally given up his contest with the British Customs in an effort to obtain possession of the 1801 bof filletted steak which he brought with him from New Zealand to supplement his rations. Instructfions have been given that the meat, together with 751 bof extra tinned foodstuffs, should be returned to the Dominion. All Murphy has retained is the regulation 251 b of foodstuffs which any new arrival in Britain is allowed to bring into the country. Murphy said he will remain in Britain as long as fights are offering, but that he hopes to return to the Dominion in about six months’ time and then come back to Britain. His objective is a challenge match against Vince Hawkins for the British Empire middle-weight title.
