AUSTRALIAN ARMY RUNNER’S EFFORT Rec. 8 p.m. SYDNEY, Dec. 7. Thrown oft his balance at both turns and with his right foot bleeding from an early injury, the Australian army runner, Clarrie Hayes, ran 220 yards in 23 seconds on a rough track. He said afterwards that he had little training for the distance and found it a bit far. Over the same course the Australian sprint champion, Treloar, ran the 220 in 21.9 seconds to break an interclub record.
